Drag a box over the part you want to keep. Lock it to a preset shape for Instagram, YouTube or print, type exact pixel sizes, and download in JPEG, PNG or WebP.
Cuts a rectangle out of the picture at full resolution. You draw the box on the photo, or type its width, height and position in pixels, and the tool copies exactly those pixels into a new file. Nothing is scaled, so a 1200 × 800 crop from a 4000 × 3000 photo is genuinely 1200 × 800 pixels of the original. The result updates as you drag, and the badge in the corner shows the size in pixels and the file size it will download at.
A landscape photo from a phone is 4032 × 3024. For an Instagram post you pick the 1:1 preset: the box snaps to the largest square that fits, 3024 × 3024, centred. Drag it left so the subject sits on the right-hand third line, download as JPEG at quality 92 and you get a 3024 × 3024 file of about 1.9 MB. For a YouTube thumbnail choose 16:9 instead, which gives 4032 × 2268, then run Resize Image to bring it to 1280 × 720.
Crop when the framing is wrong or when a platform wants a specific shape: square profile pictures, 9:16 stories, 16:9 headers, 3:2 or 5:4 prints. Crop before you resize, so the resize works on the final shape. If the image is the right shape but too many pixels, skip crop and go straight to Resize Image. If the horizon is tilted, straighten it with Rotate Image first, then crop away the empty corners. Cropping cannot add pixels that were never there; if the subject is small and far away the result will be small, and enlarging it afterwards will look soft.
Free lets the box take any shape. A ratio preset locks the shape while you drag; Custom lets you type your own, such as 21:9 for an ultrawide wallpaper. The Width and Height fields set the box in original-image pixels, and From left and From top position it precisely. Largest expands the box to the biggest size of the current shape that fits; Centre moves it to the middle without changing its size. Arrow keys nudge the box one pixel, Shift and arrows ten. Output Same keeps the original file type; pick PNG if you need transparency preserved.
Does cropping reduce quality? No. The pixels inside the box are copied out unchanged. Only the file wrapper is re-encoded, so keep PNG or Same for a lossless result, or set JPEG quality to 90 or more.
How do I crop to an exact size like 1080 × 1080? Pick the 1:1 preset, type 1080 into Width and the height follows. If the photo is smaller than that, crop as large as you can and then run Resize Image to scale the result up or down to the exact number.
Can I crop a circle? Crop to a square here, then open Round Corner and set the radius to 50 percent. That gives a circular PNG with a transparent background.
Is the photo uploaded anywhere? No. The crop is done by your browser on your own device. The page keeps working with the network switched off.
