Mirror a picture left to right, flip it top to bottom, or both. Un-mirror selfies, make reflections, fix scans, and process a folder at once in your browser.
Redraws the image with its pixel order reversed along one axis or both. A horizontal flip mirrors left and right, a vertical flip swaps top and bottom, and both does the two together. The size never changes: a 1920 × 1080 frame stays 1920 × 1080, and because pixels are only moved, not resampled, the result is as sharp as the original.
A 3024 × 4032 selfie where the wording on a shirt reads backwards: horizontal flip, download as JPEG at quality 92, and the file is the same 3024 × 4032 at about 2.4 MB with the text reading correctly. A 1600 × 900 product shot mirrored for a symmetrical banner: flip horizontally here, then use Merge Images to place the original and the mirrored copy side by side into a 3200 × 900 strip.
Use it to un-mirror a front-camera photo, to make a subject face the other way so it looks into a page layout instead of out of it, to build reflections, or to correct a scan that was fed in face down. If the picture is sideways or upside down but not mirrored, Rotate Image is the right tool; flipping a sideways photo will not straighten it. If you want to keep only part of the picture afterwards, continue with Crop Image.
Horizontal is the one you want for selfies and for changing which way a person or product faces. Vertical is rarer; it makes water reflections and fixes upside-down scans that are not mirrored. Both equals a 180° turn and is handy when a camera was held upside down. In Output, Same keeps the original format, and the quality slider only matters for JPEG, WebP and AVIF.
What is the difference between flip and rotate? Flipping mirrors the picture, so text reads backwards and a left hand becomes a right hand. Rotating turns it without mirroring. Flip both ways at once gives the same result as a 180° rotation.
Why do my selfies look mirrored, and does this fix it? Most phone cameras show a mirrored preview but some save the mirrored version. A horizontal flip puts the picture back the way other people see you. Text on a T-shirt becoming readable is the sign it worked.
Is any quality lost? Flipping only moves pixels, so nothing is lost. With JPEG output the file is re-encoded once; leave quality at 92 or pick PNG to keep it identical.
Can I flip many pictures at once? Yes. Drop several files or switch on Batch mode. Each file is flipped the same way and you get one ZIP or separate downloads.
