Wash a photo in one colour: warm, cool, sepia, or any tint you pick. Six blend modes, an intensity slider, and a switch that keeps the brightness exactly as it was.
Blends a single colour over every pixel using the same maths as the blend modes in a photo editor, then mixes the result with the original by the intensity you set. Overlay pushes the midtones toward the tint while leaving highlights and shadows mostly alone; Multiply and Screen darken or lighten as they tint; Color swaps the hue and saturation of every pixel for the tint’s while keeping brightness. The Keep brightness switch rescales each pixel afterwards so the photo is exactly as light as before, only coloured.
A 3000 × 2000 black and white portrait with the Sepia preset at 60 percent in Overlay gives the classic brown print look, and switching the preset to Cyan at the same setting gives a cyanotype. A colour landscape at Cool, 35 percent, Soft light reads as early morning; the same picture at Warm, 35 percent, Multiply reads as golden hour with heavier shadows. A batch of 40 product photos tinted Custom #2B4C7E at 20 percent in Color mode gives a uniform brand wash in about half a minute.
Use it for sepia and cyanotype conversions, for a consistent mood across a set of photos, for brand-colour washes on backgrounds, and for turning a flat graphic into a coloured one. When you want two colours, one for shadows and one for highlights, Duotone Effect does that properly. For the specific brown-tone look with its own strength control, Sepia Effect is a one-slider shortcut. If the aim is to move existing colours rather than lay a new one on top, Adjust Hue keeps every tone distinct instead of merging them.
The preset chips pick a tint; choosing a colour in the picker switches to Custom. Intensity is the mix between the original and the fully tinted version; 30 to 60 suits most photos. Blend mode decides how the tint interacts with the existing tones, and the note under the chips explains the one you chose. Keep brightness works with Overlay and Color, the two modes that would otherwise change exposure. Output Same keeps the original file type.
Does this add colour to a black and white photo? It adds one tint across the whole picture, so a black and white photo becomes a sepia, cyanotype or any single-colour version. It does not guess the real colours of grass, skin and sky the way an AI colouriser does; for that kind of result you need a different tool.
Which blend mode should I start with? Overlay with Keep brightness on. It tints the midtones, leaves blacks and whites alone and does not change how light the picture is. Use Multiply when you want a darker, moody tint, Screen for a light haze, and Color to replace the existing colours completely.
Why does the tint look weak on a very bright or very dark photo? Overlay and Soft light have the least effect near pure white and pure black, by design. Switch to Color mode, which ignores the original colour and keeps only its brightness, or raise the intensity toward 100.
